Welcome,
Thank you for stoping by.
My name is Oréan Collier and I am the creator behind everything you will, see on this site. My journey as a creator began at an early age. It stemmed from watching my mother make things, whether it was sewing, crocheting or making speciality cakes I was right there taking it all in, not to mention seeing my grandmother make quilts by hand, so needless to say I got it honest.
I come from a military background and while living in Hawaii I remember having a art class and we had to create our back drop for our graduation. That is where I fell in love with painting, it was just so much fun. When we came back to the mainland, I continued my journey and love for the arts by always watching a show called Bob Ross. I went out and bought all the paints he used the canvases, the paint brushes, his books. You name it I had it. This went on for many years of me painting landscapes as he did and some florals, but over the years my style changed. More on that later.
Not only was I into painting I would draw and sketch a lot of fashions as well. One of my mother’s friends used to get “W” magazine and she would let me have them, I would spend hours pouring through the pages looking for anything to draw that was very fashion forward. There was this fashion illustrator named “Antonio Lopez” always featured in the magazine and I loved his work. I would always try and sketch what he had that particular month. Not only where the fashions amazing but his style of illustrating was amazing as well. I would spend hours drawing , sketching and at that time used charcoal pastel pencils to complete the looks just as I had seen.
Over the years my style changed , and as mentioned when painting Bob Ross, landscapes and florals to now taping into abstract art using acrylic along with creating Afrocentric art pieces and more recently watercolour. I also enjoy doing digital art as well.
There were many years where I would paint things and just leave them laying around the house. I decided that I needed to step out and start having art shows and I did just that.
I now have my art work featured at the downtown Chattanooga Public Library and also been featured in several magazines.
I’m also a handbag designer having my first line of handbags manufactured for me in Italy. I won a national contest through Marie Claire magazine called “Be Discovered “ Design a handbag and my design won out of 300 entries across the country.
Not only do I create art, design handbags, and fabric I am also a children’s book author having my first book published in April 2021.
“Lasko the Artist “ is the title and it’s for the kids and the kid at heart. A fun charming book that is sure to bring a smile or two to your face.
I keep going and doing because these are things that I truly love doing and want to share with people who enjoy my work. Not to mention keeping my word to my only child London who passed away from an accidental overdose in 2019. She was only 24 years old. Leaving behind two of her own daughters.
She told me along time ago “ Mom, get back on your feet and your things are too good. Never quit” I told her I would never quit. I keep going for her and her daughters, my granddaughters as well as myself
I have her picture shown above as I made a promise to myself that I will always include her in some way with whatever I’m doing. She will always be with me, still rooting me on. For many years it was just her and I .
I have had to learn to pick myself up and keep moving forward as I know she would want me to.
My daughter London (shown here) was always my model. Here she is modeling one of my favorite prints I created. I designed this outfit as well. If you’re into fashion and are looking for unique prints look no further. My fabric designs are available as well.
